Move Into Flow with a Conscious Dance practice in Bath

Book Now

QiFlo® DANCE is a conscious dance practice designed to cultivate the ability to follow qi-led movement towards holistic wellbeing. Rather than prioritising performance, or catharsis, the practice trains sensitivity to internal energetic cues and supports the body’s natural capacity to regulate, reorganise, and restore balance through movement.

Rooted in qigong theory and informed by Authentic Movement, Feldenkrais-based awareness, and relaxation and visualization practices from the Linklater Technique, participants learn to recognise when movement is arising from effort or habit, and gradually practise allowing movement to be initiated by the flow of qi.

Qi-led movement is not forced or assumed, It is developed over time. Movement may take the form of subtle adjustment, spontaneous gesture, fuller dance, stillness, or rest. Each is understood as a functional response to energetic conditions within the body.

A core aspect of the practice is the cultivation of conscious witnessing - the ability to stay present with sensation, movement, and emotional tone as they arise, without interference or narrative elaboration. This supports integration and prevents emotional amplification and re-identification, allowing qi to move without obstruction.

QiFlo® DANCE is held in a music-supported group setting where the emphasis is on supporting health, wellbeing, and embodied intelligence rather than emotional release or aesthetic outcome.

  • While QiFlo® DANCE shares the values of freedom, presence, and embodied expression found in many conscious dance practices, it differs in both intention and structure. Rather than using music and expression as the primary drivers of movement, QiFlo® DANCE places emphasis on cultivating internal listening, qi circulation, and conscious witnessing as the foundation from which movement arises. Spontaneous expression is welcomed, but it is understood as a response to energetic flow rather than an aim in itself. This approach prioritises regulation, integration, and self-organising movement over catharsis or emotional intensity, offering a pathway into flow that supports balance and embodied intelligence over time.

While contemporary in form, conscious dance practices draw deeply from Indigenous traditions where movement has long served as medicine, ritual, and community expression - such as the Native American Jingle Dance, the African Ngoma ceremonies, the Filipino Babaylan and Mumbaki rituals, and Chinese Qigong practices like zi fa gong.

As conscious dance practices continue to develop, it is vital to honour the cultures and communities that have long understood dance as healing. Without recognition, these roots risk being forgotten, the people who carried them risk being unseen, and their role in the evolution of dance and movement for healing and spirituality: erased.

  • QiFlo® DANCE sessions take place in a clean, calm, and supportive group setting. All venues have a bathroom, and you are welcome to sit and rest at any point during the session.

We begin together with a gentle opening, followed by a gradual warm-up that supports settling into the body and working with qi.

Simple practices in awareness and conscious witnessing are offered as a mix of individual experiential exploration and/or small-group or dyad work, always with clear guidance.

Movement is internally led and self-paced. Although we share the space as a group, there is no requirement to interact or perform. You may move slowly or vigorously, pause, rest, or remain still.

Contact, if it arises, is always optional and consensual. You are encouraged to honour your own boundaries and needs, and to respect those of others.

Qi-led movement may feel immediately accessible, or it may feel subtle, unfamiliar, or not yet clear - and all of this is part of the practice. With time and repeated experience, sensitivity and responsiveness tend to develop naturally. There is nothing to force or achieve; the invitation is to stay gently curious and allow understanding of the process to unfold at its own pace.

Sessions close with a gradual return toward stillness, allowing time to integrate and settle, often followed by a brief shared closing or quiet reflection.

QiFlo® DANCE is a qi-led movement and awareness practice for wellbeing, not a form of therapy. While emotions may arise at times, participants are encouraged to work within their own capacity and seek support from trusted health care professionals if needed. Referrals can be provided when helpful.
