What Is Qi?

In Zhineng Qigong, Qi is the life-force that connects matter, energy, and consciousness. Everything, from your body to the stars is made of Qi in different forms and densities. When Qi condenses, it becomes matter. When it flows, it is felt as vitality and movement. When it refines, it carries thought and information. Dr. Pang Ming, founder of Zhineng Qigong, described Qi as “the unified existence of matter, energy, and information.”

Modern science tells us that most of the universe is invisible: what physics calls dark matter and dark energy. Zhineng Qigong describes a similar truth through experience: a vast, unseen field of life that responds to consciousness and gives rise to form.

Through practice, we learn to connect with this universal Qi field to restore balance, enhance health, and remember that we are part of the living universe itself.

What is Qigong?

Qigong (气功) means “working skillfully with life-force energy.” It is a Chinese embodied consciousness practice that combines gentle movement, breathing, and refined observation to help you connect with Qi.

In Zhineng Qigong, these movements and meditations are designed to open the body, calm the mind, and awaken inner vitality. When you practice, you’re not just exercising but learning to use consciousness through the body. You gather and guide Qi, releasing tension and restoring balance from the inside out.

With regular practice, people often feel more centred, healthier, and deeply connected, with themselves, with others, and with the living universe around them.

Qigong is an embodied consciousness practice that nourishes body and mind through the movement of life force energy.

What is Zhineng Qigong?

Zhineng Qigong is an integrated system of body–mind cultivation that unites Dong Gong (dynamic movement) and Jing Gong (still meditation) to harmonize energy, restore health, and awaken higher consciousness.

Through the refinement of attention, intention, and movement, practitioners learn to settle the mind with calm clarity, developing awareness that supports emotional balance, vitality, and personal growth.

Created by Dr. Pang Ming, a Qigong master trained in both Chinese and Western medicine and a lifelong student of nineteen Qigong and martial arts grandmasters, Zhineng Qigong brings together ancient wisdom and modern science. Drawing from Daoist, Buddhist, and Confucian philosophies; and integrating forms such as Soaring Crane Qigong along with other traditional and folk styles, Dr. Pang created a comprehensive system for self-healing and consciousness development.

Today, millions of people around the world practice Zhineng Qigong. It is recognized not only as a powerful method for improving physical health and emotional wellbeing, but also as a complete path for conscious transformation.

Its methods open and regulate the body’s energy channels, enhancing the free flow of Qi (the vital life force) between the individual and the universe. In group practice, this shared Qifield is amplified, deepening the experience of unity, connection, and collective harmony.

The Zhineng Qigong system unfolds through six levels, which cultivate the external, internal, and central integration of Qi and consciousness. Each level builds progressively, supporting the practitioner’s ongoing journey of healing, balance, and expanded awareness.

Ultimately, Zhineng Qigong is more than a health practice, it is a discipline of wisdom cultivation, empowering individuals to awaken their innate potential and embody a clear, compassionate, and integrated consciousness.
